Can my web designer add schema?
Yes, if they know JSON-LD. Send them the audit report: it names the exact types and fields missing. If they push back or seem unsure, that is a signal about the site itself.
Does Wix or Squarespace add schema automatically?
They add fragments, usually just enough to say a website exists. None of the platforms add MedicalClinic markup with your services and hours by default. The visible page looks fine; the machine layer is empty.
Will schema alone get me cited by AI?
No. Schema is the trust layer, not the content. You still need readable pages and quotable answers. But without schema, even great content gets treated with uncertainty, and uncertainty loses citations.
